RIAS Conservation Committee Update & Assistance

Frequently asked Questions about Conservation Accreditation

The RIAS Conservation Committee convenor has been working with the Committee to prepare guidance answering questions that will help individuals’ understanding of the conservation accreditation scheme and scheme requirements. The advice covers the purpose of accreditation, who can apply, what criteria is used to assess applications, what to demonstrate in case studies and many other FAQs.  The document is available here or via the downloads at the bottom of the conservation webpage. www.rias.org.uk/for-architects/conservation-accreditation

Pre-application Mentoring

The RIAS Conservation Committee has recently reviewed the mentoring arrangement which was initially launched in 2014 to help RIAS members interested in obtaining conservation accreditation but who required some assistance with the application process. The Pre-application Mentoring aims to help members who typically do not have an accredited colleague within their practice to help guide them, or who have set up as a sole practitioner. The guidance provided relates to the application process and case study presentation; what information or experience is missing and may need to be built on. Further information on the arrangement and the criteria to take part is available here or via the downloads at the bottom of the conservation webpage. www.rias.org.uk/for-architects/conservation-accreditation

Conservation Bulletin

As advertised on the website, in previous electronic bulletins and the Quarterly magazine, the RIAS issue an email alert of ‘conservation – items of interest’ to a list of individuals interested in built heritage conservation who have opted into the service. This alerts people to upcoming conservation events throughout Scotland. Should you be aware of any conservation events you think should be shared with this email list please email Joanna.Robson@rias.org.uk

If you’d like to join that email list please also get in touch with Joanna.Robson@rias.org.uk
